The results of “Shina-2018” environmental program

On February 13, 2019, the Government of the Moscow region was holding an award ceremony for volunteers of the environmental program «Shina-2018». The EcoTyresUnion has sponsored and co-organized the program in 2018.

As part of the environmental program «Shina» 7,900 tons of waste tyres have been collected and recycled in 2018.  This means that every eleventh car owner of the Moscow region has contributed to the preservation of the environment of the region and has given tyres for recycling.

Shchelkovo, Solnechnogorsk and Serpukhov districts have become leaders in the collection of tyres among the municipal districts in 2018. Among the city districts the winners are Klin, Domodedovo and Ruza city districts.

«Eco-volunteers of the year» are the athletes from the sports school of Mytishchi city district, who cleared several unauthorized tyre landfills, as well as Vladimir Karlin, Chairman of the Parking lot № 55 of the MGSA, and Tatyana Pavlova, Head of the public environmental movement SecondLife, who opened the tyre reception points for the population.

The first place in the nomination «Popularization of the program «Shina-2018» took the city district of Ivanteevka. Due to the constant TV reports and publications in the media, the residents of a small town gave 201 tons of waste tyres for recycling in a year. The company «Shinservis» was rightly awarded with the second place. The reception of tyres for recycling for a nominal fee of one ruble has been organized in 30 tyre centers of this company. The third place was taken by the city district of Khimki for reports about the program.

The Executive Director of the EcoTyresUnion Sergey Podoynikov has attended the awarding ceremony, dedicated to the announcement of the program results, congratulated the volunteers of the campaign and awarded the prizes to the winners.

In his speech Sergey noted the importance and effectiveness of such environmental campaigns as «Shina-2018» throughout the country, which is proved by the results of the EcoTyresUnion activities. Currently, under the support of the EcoTyresUnion 16 regions of the country are actively developing their tyre collection programs, working on the liquidation of unauthorized landfills, a mobile application is being developed — an aggregator service to find tyre reception points.

Involvement of the population in the waste tyres collection allows citizens to form an environmentally responsible approach to waste management, to reduce the number of unauthorized landfills. Together we will certainly succeed in solving the problem of waste management and ensure the proper future of our planet!
